System Administrator/DevOps:



Availability and engineering of Production

  • Guarantees availability and performance of Production Web Sites meeting or exceeding Company standards
  • Supports the design and implementation of pre-production and production environments that meet Company standards for production control and development productivity and agility
  • Supports the design and implementation of backup and recovery (including DR) systems and procedures pertaining to both Data and Systems for all required environments that meet business needs
  • Participates in 24X7 Call out support roster as required


Project and work package delivery

  • Ensure all assigned and agreed projects and activities are delivered with high velocity, on time, and on budget, and meet agreed quality control standards and expectations



  • Ensure all assigned and agreed projects and activities are tracked and reported in line with team task management process and ensure all key stakeholders are fully informed as to progress, issues and overall performance


Technology and team process development, maintenance and usage

  • Exercise operation discipline and participation in all required IT service management processes (e.g. incident, problem and change management)
  • Ensure all relevant standard operating procedures relating to development, staging, and production systems are documented, understood and actively used by the team in technology and service delivery
  • Ensure operational procedures describing the installation, deployment, commissioning, and decommissioning of equipment in data centres are documented, understood and actively used by the team in technology and service delivery


Experience and qualifications

  • Linux System Administration expertise (Ubuntu, Alpine)
  • Strong experience with Amazon AWS (Cloudfront, EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, VPC, etc)
  • Knowledge of Docker or other container technologies
  • Capacity planning and cost optimization in cloud and datacenter environments
  • Database infrastructure experience (Mysql in high availability pref.)
  • Security knowledge and mindset
  • TCP/IP Networking knowledge (stack and protocols)
  • Enterprise scale monitoring experience (e.g. on Nagios, Munin, Cacti, Zabbix, etc.)
  • Security expertise
    • Operating system hardening (se-linux, iptables, etc)
    • Network protection (firewall, IPS/IDS)
    • Vulnerability detection and penetration testing (nmap, nessus, backtrack, netcat, nikto, etc.)
    • Service protection (SSL, mod_security)
    • Network traffic identification (tcpdump, wireshark)
    • Authentication management (ldap/active directory)
    • DoS/DDoS mitigation
    • Computer forensics
    • CISSP certification, ISO 27001, security policies and incident response
    • Active monitoring of security-related news in the online communities (mailing lists, conferences, etc...)
  • Knowledge of configuration and management of enterprise office services (e.g. Office365, Google for Business)
  • Configuration management (Salt), infrastructure automation and tooling
  • Web Server experience (apache or other)
  • Shell Programming (sh, perl, ruby, python)
  • SMTP Email experience (postfix, exim, sendmail)
