Job Description

Compliance is the adherence by all employees and representatives of a company to external laws and regulations as well as internal policies, ethics codes, and commitments. At Cargolux we face potential exposure to several areas of regulatory risk such as antitrust, anti-bribery, fraud, and export restrictions. With the overall aim of protecting our company from financial penalties, legal exposure, and reputational risk, the compliance department supports each business area in its duty to comply with the relevant laws. The department's functions include risk assessment, providing training and consultation, due diligence, monitoring, reporting, investigation and remediation.

Task responsibilities:

  • Supports the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) in his general compliance functions
  • Carries out researches on compliance matters and contacts external experts when required
  • Ensures that compliance issues and concerns within the Head Office are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved
  • Guides employees on general compliance issues in respective areas and responds to inquiries or requests
  • Provides reports on a regular basis and implements compliance audits when requested by the CCO
  • Develops, reviews, monitors and updates the compliance program
  • Communicates with the departments and stations of regulatory modifications
  • Develops and manages the appropriate tools to gather information about laws and regulations
  • Creates and develops new compliance training materials and gives training
  • Acts as an expert on IT Compliance issues and particularly data and private data matters

Essential requirements:

  • Master or Bachelor degree in law or in another relevant field
  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar position and having had some exposure to legal and/or audit topics
  • General knowledge about laws and regulations will be considered as an advantage
  • Knowledge of data protection and private data matters is a distinct advantage
  • Ability to maneuver comfortably through complex processes, policies, (people-related) dynamics and to plan/ prioritize work
  • Good problem solving skills and being solution oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, feeling comfortable working autonomously as well as in a team
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Be trustworthy, honest, integer, business minded and support the values of the company
  • Be people and team orientated and be able to work independently
  • Understand the company's product and services and be able to make complex analysis
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French, other languages are a distinct advantage
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as a general good understanding of IT infrastructure

Working conditions:

  • Position based in Luxembourg
  • Occasional travel required within the entire Cargolux network
  • A Certificate of good conduct (Casier judiciaire, Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) will be required in case of positive selection
