Architect / Project Architect – Heritage Renovation & Construction Management

Shape Exceptional Buildings, Take Ownership & Grow With Us

Full-Time / Half-Time Position (Part-Time Applicants Welcome)  |  Walferdange, Luxembourg  |  On-site

About the Opportunity

We are a growing company specialising in the renovation and development of high-quality buildings, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Architect who enjoys taking responsibility for a project as a whole—from design development and building permits through execution drawings, tendering, site supervision and final handover.

About Us

At Xtend, we restore and develop exceptional historic buildings in Luxembourg. We combine traditional craftsmanship, real estate development and entrepreneurial thinking to create unique projects with long-term value. We work on some of Luxembourg’s most remarkable historic and architectural projects, combining traditional building techniques with modern real estate development.

Every project is different. Every project matters. Have a look at our website to get a feel for what we do: www.xtend.lu.

What You’re Looking For

You want more than a drawing-office position: you are looking for meaningful responsibility, varied projects and the satisfaction of seeing your work built.

  • A meaningful role with responsibility for complete projects, not just isolated design tasks
  • The opportunity to work on distinctive historic buildings and demanding technical challenges
  • A small, committed team where your decisions and expertise make a visible difference
  • Close collaboration on design, with genuine autonomy in technical development and delivery
  • Long-term professional growth as the company develops

What You’ll Do

As Project Architect, you will be trusted to translate design ideas into technically sound, well-documented and successfully completed projects. You will combine hands-on architectural work with independent project coordination and clear reporting.

  • Develop, draw, review and correct architectural plans; translate the agreed design vision into workable solutions
  • Interpret Luxembourg planning and building regulations and prepare complete building-permit submissions
  • Produce coordinated execution drawings, construction details and practical technical solutions
  • Assess existing buildings and adapt designs creatively when site conditions require changes
  • Prepare specifications and bills of quantities, organise tendering, compare bids and support contractor selection
  • Independently coordinate contractors, consultants and stakeholders; supervise works through completion and handover
  • Lead site meetings and produce accurate, structured written minutes, decisions and action lists promptly
  • Track and regularly report on project progress, schedules, hours, costs, budgets, risks and outstanding decisions
  • Identify buildability issues early, resolve on-site problems, manage disagreements professionally and maintain reliable project records
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in writing with clients, authorities, consultants and contractors

Position Details

  • Type: Full-time or half-time (part-time applicants welcome), on-site
  • Location: Walferdange, Luxembourg
  • Start date: As soon as mutually agreed
  • Compensation: Competitive salary depending on experience and responsibilities

Why Join Us

We are building a company focused on:

  • High-quality restoration projects with strong architectural and technical substance
  • A small, agile and committed team
  • A culture of responsibility, autonomy, craftsmanship and continuous improvement
  • An opportunity to influence how projects are executed and how the company grows

Growth Opportunity

If you are motivated, autonomous and committed, this role offers:

  • Increasing project responsibility.
  • The opportunity to improve our methods and processes.
  • The possibility of helping guide future team members.

Before You Apply – This Role Is Not for Everyone

This role will suit you if:

  • You prefer a small, agile organisation over large corporate structures and enjoy contributing beyond a narrowly defined job description.
  • You care deeply about architectural aesthetics and the preservation of heritage; if you find satisfaction in giving historic buildings a thoughtful new life, you are likely to feel at home at Xtend.
  • You have a genuine curiosity for building materials, how they age and how traditional and contemporary construction methods can work together.
  • You enjoy taking ownership and can bring projects to completion without constant supervision
  • You are equally comfortable with design, technical documentation, construction and people on site
  • You communicate proactively, document decisions and keep others informed
  • You enjoy solving practical problems in existing buildings, while respecting their character
  • You can develop the founder’s design direction rather than needing sole creative control

This role may not be the right fit if:

  • You are looking primarily for a conceptual design position without execution or site responsibilities
  • You prefer a narrowly defined role or require close day-to-day direction
  • You are looking for a remote or hybrid position
